XRANGE, the region’s first international multi-domain Training, Testing, and Evaluation (TT&E) facility operated by REMAYA, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mira Aerospace, a subsidiary of Space42, to establish a permanent testing hub for high-altitude, long-endurance (HALE) UAV trials. The agreement was formalized at the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX) 2025, held at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.
Under the MoU, XRANGE will serve as the primary TT&E facility for Mira Aerospace’s High-Altitude Pseudo-Satellite (HAPS) platform, ApusNeo, offering airspace allocation, ground-based instrumentation, and trials planning support. Designed to operate in the stratosphere at altitudes between 13 to 20 km, ApusNeo is a solar-powered UAV providing a cost-effective alternative to satellites for communications, surveillance, and environmental monitoring.

Haitham Awinat, CEO of REMAYA, stated: “This collaboration underscores XRANGE’s role in supporting cutting-edge aerospace innovations, providing state-of-the-art testing facilities that accelerate market readiness.”
Khaled Al Marzooqi, CEO of Mira Aerospace, highlighted: “The establishment of a dedicated testing hub in Abu Dhabi is a strategic step that will enable us to refine HAPS technology, optimize performance, and expand operational capabilities.”
The partnership builds on successful trials conducted at XRANGE in mid-2024, where Mira Aerospace’s HAPS platform demonstrated sustained operations at 50,000 ft, marking a significant milestone in stratospheric UAV development.
