Pakistan Army on Tuesday conducted a successful test flight of indigenously developed Fatah-1 Guided Multi Launch Rocket System (G MLRS). According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Military’s media wing said.
The weapon system will give Pakistan the capability of precision target engagement deep in enemy territory, ISPR said in a press release.
Fatah-1 Guided Multi Launch Rocket System is capable of delivering a conventional warhead and up to a range of 140 kilometers. Previously, this system was tested on January 7th, 2021. According to the video released by ISPR, four (4) Fateh-1 Rockets are mounted on a Transport Erector Launcher (TEL).
Describing the benefits of GMLRS for Pakistan Military, Samran Ali, Research Assistant at Islamabad-based Center for International Strategic Studies (CISS) said that “Fatah-1 increases the conventional strike capabilities of the Pakistan Army.” The rocket system also counters India’s Cold Start Doctrine. With this system, Pakistan Army can strike on Indian forces with fast and massive firepower deep inside Indian territory accurately. “The range of the system also covers several Indian Air Force bases near Pakistan’s borders”, Samran Ali told Global Defense Insight.
