Iraq to Host IQDEX 2026, Positioning Baghdad as a Regional Defense and Security Hub

Baghdad is set to host IQDEX 2026, the 14th edition of the Iraqi Security, Defense, Military Industries and Cyber Security Exhibition, reinforcing Iraq’s growing ambition to emerge as a key regional hub for defense, security, and military-industrial cooperation.

Scheduled to take place from 11 to 14 April 2026 in Baghdad, IQDEX 2026 is expected to attract senior military leadership, government officials, defense ministries, and international defense manufacturers, making it one of the most strategically significant defense exhibitions in the Middle East.

A Strategic Platform for Defense and Security Engagement

IQDEX has steadily evolved into Iraq’s premier defense and security exhibition, offering a high-level platform for engagement between Iraqi security institutions and global defense companies. The 2026 edition will showcase a wide spectrum of military and security solutions, including land, air, and naval platforms, armored vehicles, weapons and ammunition, intelligence systems, surveillance technologies, cyber security tools, border security solutions, and counter-terrorism capabilities.

The exhibition is organized by United Group and held under the patronage of Iraqi authorities, reflecting strong state-level support for strengthening national defense capabilities and encouraging international defense cooperation.

Focus on Modern Warfare and Emerging Threats

IQDEX 2026 will place particular emphasis on modern and future warfare domains, including electronic warfare, cyber defense, secure communications, unmanned and autonomous systems, intelligence fusion platforms, and battlefield digitization. These focus areas align with Iraq’s broader efforts to modernize its armed forces and address evolving security challenges across the region.

In addition to combat systems, the exhibition will highlight military logistics, defense infrastructure protection, border management, and specialized military medical services, underlining a comprehensive approach to national and regional security requirements.

Strengthening Iraq’s Defense Industry and International Partnerships

A key objective of IQDEX 2026 is to support Iraq’s defense-industrial development by facilitating technology transfer, industrial partnerships, and direct engagement between local entities and international manufacturers. Iraqi defense and security institutions are expected to use the exhibition as a platform to explore procurement opportunities, joint ventures, and long-term cooperation agreements.

With increasing international participation anticipated, IQDEX 2026 is poised to serve as a critical meeting point for policymakers, military planners, and industry leaders seeking to expand their footprint in Iraq’s defense and security market.

Iraq’s Growing Role in Regional Defense Dialogue

As regional security dynamics continue to evolve, hosting IQDEX 2026 positions Iraq as an increasingly influential player in Middle Eastern defense dialogue. By convening global defense stakeholders in Baghdad, the exhibition underscores Iraq’s commitment to enhancing stability, fostering strategic partnerships, and strengthening its role within the regional security architecture.
