IL-114-300 Resumes Flight Testing Program

The United Aircraft Corporation, a part of Rostec, has resumed the flight testing program for the passenger turboprop Il-114-300 aircraft. A second prototype has been incorporated into the program.

Its maiden flight proceeded smoothly at altitudes of up to 900 meters and speeds of up to 230 km/h. All systems and equipment operated flawlessly, and the program was completed in full. Before flight testing, the aircraft underwent a series of ground tests, including shop floor and aerodrome trials. Additionally, taxiing and high-speed runs were conducted as part of the flight testing program.

The new Il-114-300 features improved flight and technical characteristics, increased use of composite materials, enhancements to almost all major systems, and particular attention has been paid to improving the ergonomics of the crew cabin. A new digital piloting and navigation complex has also been installed.

The aircraft is composed of Russian components and is powered by the TV7-117ST-01 engine, which has undergone comprehensive modifications. Additionally, a new auxiliary power unit TA 14-114 has been installed to provide autonomy to the aircraft during servicing and preparation for flight at minimally equipped aerodromes.

The aircraft is being developed for operation, including in challenging climatic conditions, and must confirm the reliability and functionality of all systems, particularly in harsh climates.

“A significant amount of certification work remains ahead for the Il-114-300 aircraft, including flight testing. Modern regional aircraft of Russian manufacture are crucial for addressing the challenges outlined by the country’s leadership for air transport. This includes increasing the mobility of our citizens and doubling the intensity of air traffic in Russia by 2030,” noted Dmitry Yadrovy, the head of the Federal Air Transport Agency.

The Il-114-300 will replace the An-24 on regional air routes.
