Imran Khan lashed at Afghan President

 

 

Imran Khan lashed at Afghan President Ashraf Ghani’s claims about Pakistan’s “negative role” in the Afghan peace process stating that it was “unfair” to blame us for the situation in Afghanistan.

 

Pakistan’s Prime minister Imran khan met Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on the sidelines of the Central and South Asia Regional Connectivity: Challenges and Opportunities” conference.

Ahead of the meeting the Prime minister Imran Khan gave remarks that:”To blame Pakistan for what is going on in Afghanistan is extremely unfair.” The premier added.

PM Imran stated that no country had strived that harder than Pakistan to bring the Taliban to the dialogue table. “We have made every effort, short of taking military action against the Taliban in Pakistan, to get them on the table for negotiations and to have a peaceful settlement [in Afghanistan].”

He also added that he would not have visited Afghanistan in November last year if Pakistan was not keen in peace process. “The whole idea was to look upon Pakistan as a partner in peace. I feel disappointed that we have been blamed for what is going on in Afghanistan”.

Pakistan is also host to the Afghan Peace Conference on July 17-19 to accelerate the current efforts for peace in Afghanistan,” said by Foreign Office Spokesman Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri at the weekly media briefing. Afghanistan’s political leadership has been invited to the conference except Taliban the spokesman had clarified, as they had already visited Pakistan multiple times and held detailed talks on the peace process.

Imran Khan lashed at Afghan President Ashraf Ghani’s claims about Pakistan’s “indecisive role” in the Afghan peace process stating that it was “unfair” to blame us for the situation in Afghanistan. According to him it is not a responsible policy to blame Pakistan for everything that happen in Afghanistan.
