Iraq’s Premier called security meeting

Baghdad, 7 November 2021 (GDI): Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi called a security meeting on Sunday in Baghdad to discuss the security situation in the country.

The meeting was called in the wake of attack on his residence.

Earlier, The Prime Minister just escaped an assassination attempt by armed drone.

Mr. Khadimi chaired the security meeting later on Sunday to discuss the matter with  top security commanders.

The Prime Minister office issued a statement after the meeting calling the attack a “cowardly attempt”.

“The terrorist attack that targeted the home of the prime Minister last night with the aim of assassinating him, is a serious targeting of the Iraqi state by criminal armed groups,”

Reuters claimed that the attack injured 6 members of Premier’s Personal Protection.

Earlier, three drones targeted the Residence of state’s Prime Minister. The security forces intercepted and downed two of them. While one of three struck to the palace.

International community including US, KSA, UK and Iran have condemned the cowardly attack on country’s head.

None of the terrorist groups claimed the responsibility of the assassination attempt.

While, US advanced its full support to Iraq in investigating the matter.
