Satair, an Airbus company, has announced an agreement to acquire Unical Aviation Inc., a leading global supplier of Used Serviceable Material (USM) for aircraft parts and components, along with its subsidiary ecube, a recognized expert in aircraft storage, disassembly, and transition services.
This strategic acquisition marks a major milestone in Satair’s long-term strategy to expand its presence in the USM sector, further reinforcing its position as a comprehensive and integrated provider of aftermarket solutions.
Expanding Global Footprint and Capabilities
The acquisition encompasses Unical’s and ecube’s seven operational sites and offices across North America, Spain, and the United Kingdom, collectively employing over 400 professionals and generating $298 million in revenue in 2024. The move significantly enhances Satair’s global footprint, bringing added depth and scalability to its material management and lifecycle support services.
The transaction remains subject to customary regulatory approvals and is expected to close in early 2026.
Strengthening Lifecycle Management and Sustainability
With the addition of Unical and ecube, Satair will further strengthen its capabilities as a reliable global provider of USM and end-of-life aircraft solutions, complementing the services of its existing subsidiary, VAS Aero Services, which was acquired in 2022. This expanded network will allow Satair to leverage synergies across engine, multi-fleet USM, and aircraft lifecycle management, aligning with the aviation industry’s increasing focus on sustainability and resource efficiency.
Richard Stoddart, CEO of Satair and Head of Airbus Material Services, stated:
“We are absolutely delighted to welcome Unical and ecube to Satair. This acquisition enhances aircraft lifecycle management capabilities in the aerospace aftermarket. Prolonging the lifespan of material resources not only maximizes asset value but also supports responsible material practices critical for our industry’s long-term sustainability.”
Sharon Green, CEO of Unical, added:
“Joining forces with Satair marks a pivotal moment for Unical. Together, we will unlock greater value for our customers, employees, and stakeholders. As leaders in USM and aircraft transition services, Unical and ecube are natural fits for Satair’s ambitions in material availability, services growth, and sustainability.”
A Strategic Step Toward Integrated Aftermarket Leadership
The integration of Unical’s global reach and ecube’s specialized disassembly expertise with Satair’s existing infrastructure represents a strategic leap in aftermarket service integration within the Airbus ecosystem. This move positions Satair as a key driver of innovation, sustainability, and value creation in the global USM and aircraft lifecycle management domain.
