Turkey’s Mid-Range Air Defenсe System Ready for Deployment

After completing the final test, Turkey’s medium-range air defense system Hisar O+ is ready for deployment by the country’s armed forces, according to Turkish Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB) chairman Ismail Demir.

According to Anadolu Agency, Demir tweeted on Sunday, “Our national air defense missile system struck the high-altitude high-speed target in the last acceptance test before joining the inventory.”

According to the news agency, Hisar O+ was created in Turkey in collaboration with Aselsan-Roketsan, one of Turkey’s largest defense companies.

According to reports, the air defense system can intercept up to nine targets at once at a 360-degree angle with a range of up to 15.5 miles. According to the study, it was meant to defend Turkey’s ground forces from fighters, helicopters, drones, cruise missiles, and air-to-surface missiles.

Meanwhile, the development of the long-range missile defense system SIPER is still in progress and it is expected to be ready by 2023.

Earlier this year in March, the Hisar-O+ medium-range air defense system completed a test-fire, which was the longest range and the highest altitude test conducted in the country (Turkey) to date.
